What colleges in New York/Northeast would I be able to go to (read description)?
-I live in New York
-Go to a good public school
-Have an A average in science, math, social studies and foregin language
-Have an A+ average in english and my electives
-I take 5 dance classes, am in many school clubs, and have been a summer camp counselor for 2 years
-I am NOT in any AP classes
I was hoping to go to a SUNY or private school within the Northeast (MA, CT, PA, NJ, NY, MD...etc) What colleges/universities do you think will fit my academic background?
Without knowing your SATs, it's impossible to tell for sure. But based only on what you listed, and assuming your overall GPA is a 4.0 or above from what you said, I think you stand a chance at:
- SUNY Binghamton
- SUNY Stony Brook
Which are the top two SUNYs
- Fordham
- Rutgers
- Boston University
- Boston College
- Northeastern
- Penn State U
- U Maryland College Park
- Colgate
- Hamilton
- Vassar, maybe
- Smith, maybe
- UMass Amherst
- NYU, maybe
- Syracuse
- Emerson
- U Conn
- UNH
- U Vermont
- Bennington
Your GPA is great, but I'm not listing schools like Harvard because you don't have any APs. If that's because your school doesn't offer them, then you could get into Harvard, if you've taken the highest level of classes your school did offer. But if you didn't take APs, and they were offered, I don't think schools at the Harvard level will work for you. You could try one or two, if your SATs are spectacular, but otherwise, probably not.
