Best Place for a Classy Birthday Party in Los Angeles (westside)?

Hi! I'm in my late 20's and planning my birthday party. I would like to stay on the west side (Santa Monica, Culver City, Beverly Hills...even venture out to West Hollywood/Melrose area or as far west as Venice).

Important to me are:
*No cover for my guests
*No lines
*Dancing but the music at a volume where people can talk or a separate dance floor away from the seating area
*If they've got food, that's great too. Would love a dinner/party spot to be combined in one!

I'd really like to go somewhere classy- retro and old Hollywood vibes are a plus. Screaming drunk college kids aren't where I'm looking to be!

Any tips heading me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated!
I've looked online but it's hard to tell just from yelp, especially with multiple conflicting reviews...hence my posting here...
