Scottsdale Houses Arts, History, Clubs and More
Scottsdale is one of the tourist capitals of Arizona for good reason – this scintillating city offers a fresh and flirty club scene as well as a wealth of choices for a more sophisticated entertainment palette. As the saying goes, let Scottsdale entertain you—in true Scottsdale, Arizona style…artsy, club-hopping, Western, chic, rugged or scenic, choose your favorite theme and get up and go!
If you just have a day or two, it's easy to get an overview of the city's history and/or the breathtaking

surroundings by taking one or more of the many daytime tours available. For example, if art is your passion, you might want to contact one of the tour companies that specialize in customized cultural tours, including art, architecture, theater, contemporary Native American art and Scottsdale fashion or foodie tours. Or if the weather's perfect – which it often is – you can take a self-guided ArtWalk tour of Scottsdale's Art District along Main Street and Marshall Way, or visit the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art.
No visit to Scottsdale is complete without checking out a show at the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts, the Scottsdale Desert Stage Theatre, a local casino or even one of the many movie theaters in Scottsdale. If you're heading out for a night on the town, be sure to start with happy hour at any of Scottsdale's classic and/or trendy bars and colorful taverns…in fact, there are more than fifty wine bars, lounges and dance clubs in Scottsdale. Speaking of dancing, you can get your groove on at plenty of ritzy places, but for a more sedate evening, try a wine bar or one of the upscale hotel lounges or for a rip-roarin' good time, swing on over to Reata Pass or Pinnacle Peak Patio for a great steak and some live country-western music. Just be sure to take your necktie off before you enter Pinnacle Peak Patio or you just might get it snipped off and added to the thousands of ties that adorn the walls of this Old West eatery.
For outdoor aficionados, jeep-type tours bounce you along old settlers' trails beyond Scottsdale's borders to see Native American ruins and abandoned gold mines. Or, you can hike, bike and camp at pristine McDowell Mountain Regional Park, located in the scenic Verde River basin. Kids will love the park's guided nature walks and stargazing events as well as munching at a picnic area. If you want to stay closer to the city, you can hike up Pinnacle Peak; both
McDowell Mountain
Regional Park and Pinnacle Peak Park boast spectacular views and wildlife sightings, including deer, javelina, jackrabbits, rock squirrels, coyotes and a variety of different birds.
Horseback riding at a genuine Scottsdale horse and cattle ranch will give the whole family a true taste of the West, and there are several venues that offer guided horseback and pony rides, hayrides, cowboy cookouts and perhaps even a petting zoo or two. If indoor history is more your style, you can learn more about Scottsdale's history at the Scottsdale Historical Museum, which showcases the history and cultural heritage of Scottsdale and the Southwest.
